Help Create a Safer, Healthier Future

Comments

Dear Sonoma County Resident,

We believe that you can help us create a resilient, sustainable future with healthy, safe and thriving neighborhoods. To achieve this in the face of the climate crisis, we need your help to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. By taking action together, and making it fun and inspiring, we can unleash the power of community and rise to this historic moment of crisis and opportunity.

Sonoma County has a goal to reduce emissions 25% below 1990 levels by 2020. We have already taken steps toward this goal through actions such as the startup of Sonoma Clean Power, improvements in building energy efficiency, increasing use of electric vehicles, and more.

With your help we can get there. Will you join us in a shared commitment to climate action that enriches our lives and protects our future?

The Sonoma Climate Challenge is about our coming together in a way that amplifies the impact of our individual actions towards this collective goal. The choices we make as people and a community will determine the health and safety of the world that today’s children inherit.

Our goal for the Sonoma Climate Challenge is to have 500 households participate and collectively reduce our emissions by 500 tons of CO2 by 2020.  This would be the equivalent of 588 acres of forests capturing and storing carbon over one year.

What can you do to make a difference? Sign up to explore the wealth of actions you can take today!

From easy energy savings, waterwise landscapes and renter friendly actions to transportation solutions -- YOU get to pick the impact you want to have! Want to amplify your impact? Team up with friends, coworkers or neighbors to form a Team or Community Group. By signing up, you’ll gain access to cost saving resources, supportive tools and the inspiration to empower your daily actions. Together, our small actions can have a HUGE collective impact.

Sonoma County is already a leader in climate action and sustainability, but we need your help right now to reach our next critical goal. Together, we can create a clean energy, low carbon future and make Sonoma County a national model.

The fact is, there has never been a time when your daily actions have mattered more. Will you join us today by rising to the challenge? Together we can create a vibrant, resilient and sustainable future for our families and community.

Sincerely,
